At 9 PM\, the music stops and the anxiety begins. \nWelcome to the Bomb Shelter Open Mic.I am handing a live microphone to unvetted locals. The sign-up list is open to anyone. You get exactly five minutes on stage to seek validation from a room full of strangers. If your jokes die\, the concrete walls will absorb the silence. \nThe flyer says “A Safe Place.” This is a marketing lie. It is an emotional meat grinder. \nCome test your material. Or just sit in the dark\, buy a drink\, and watch your neighbors risk their dignity under the stage lights.
